Let's play Name That Baby!

I think we've narrowed it down to the following:

Eliza Jane
Charlotte (no middle name yet)
Sarah Jane

I'm leaning heavily towards Eliza. I like it. It's different without being weird. But I also really like Charlotte.

If the 87 ultrasounds were wrong and it's a boy, we're fucked. We haven't even discussed boy's names.

The opinions of my imaginary internet weirdo friends would be appreciated.

Ooh, baby names! My favorite. I'll put my vote in for Eliza or Charlotte. Yeah, big help I am. But they're both great names.

And, if the ultrasound tech screwed up you could always name the boy baby Elijah or Charles. I know, I know, I'm not helping much.

:)

Ditto on the first two names, and why not Charlotte Eliza if you go that route?

Elijah! Hey, that's good. I like it. Not Charles, that's my mother's other half's name and while I like him and he's a great guy and all, that would just be weird.

I haven't been reading for more than a week, so I don't really know if my opinion carries much weight. However, I find Charlotte to be incredibly pretty. I like Eliza, too, but Charlotte just has some kind of zing for me.

And what lyrehca said, why not Charlotte Eliza? Sounds pretty.

I'm obviously partial to Sarah, but also really like Charlotte.

I like Eliza a lot. Eliza Jane, though, isn't that the name of a character in something or other? It sounds so familiar. Like Little House on the Prairie or something? It sounds Southern... are you Southern?

I'm kinda partial to the name Eliza. You know why.

Nope, I'm a Yankee, thru and thru. I'm going to have to go thru my Little House books - there may very well have been an Eliza.

Just came across your blog through Motherbumper. I love Charlotte, as for boy names I like Lucas and Tristan, just a suggestion!!!!

Put this freaky internet weirdo down for Charlotte as well :)

If I were having another baby, I'd be so screwed - dh and I argued for months leading up to the birth of my two kids. I don't think I could handle doing it again! Picking names stressed me right out ....

love, L-O-V-E love Eliza *and* Charlotte. How 'bout Charlotte Eliza?

Or, for that matter, Eliza Charlotte?

and Mrs. Chicky and I think alike. Elijah would totally work in a pinch (on a penis?).

I'm loving this site, loving Eliza Jane, loving Johnny Depp. You are so my long lost friend.

Also, I just asked my daughter what you should name your baby. "Snake" is apparently the way to go.

Eliza, first. Definitely.

(I have niece who bears that name-- the only other Eliza I know -- and I love both the name and the little girl).

Second choice would be Charlotte -- it's beautiful and I've yet to come across a Charlotte.

Charlotte Eliza Jane(insert last name)
Eliza Charlotte Jane (insert last name)

The first one seems to have a better ring to it... it rolls off the tongue better. Imagine when she's 15 and you catch her in the back of the house with a boy with his hand down her shirt and you scream Charlotte Eliza Jane!! Get to your room this minute. as for you you ruffian defiling my daughter be gone with you! POOF!

Did you giggle?? I know you have been stressed lately thought i'd try to make you smile at little.

I love Eliza. And I agree - Eliza Charlotte could work!

Eliza Charlotte. Such a pretty name. There's my vote. :)

My vote's for Charlotte. That was my first choice for a girl if dh and I had had one this last time. Alas, a boy. S'ok, he's cute. :)

And I think Eliza Jane is from Jane Austen somewhere. It rings a bell. Hm. In Pride & Prejudice, the two sisters are Elizabeth (called Lizzie or Eliza) and Jane. Maybe that's what I'm thinking of.

Charlotte Eliza or Charlotte Jane--either is very nice!

Charlotte or Eliza-both sound good to me. Like Eliza better though.

I like Charlotte, then Jane, then Eliza. Eliza is a variant of Elizabeth, which means it should sound normal and natural, but to me it sounds a bit too Old Testament/fundamentalist/weirdo cult. Like, say, Micah or Seth or Rachel.

And I am *not* an internet weirdo. I'm just a weirdo, plain and simple.

Actually, I like Jane as a first name.

But then Eliza comes next.

So, um, apprently Eliza Jane was a character in the Little House books and, get this, she was called "Lazy, Lousy, Liza Jane." I got that phrase running thru my head yesterday and tried to ignore it, but I had to Google it this morning.

Fan-frickin'-tabulous.

Eliza Jane was Almonzo's sister. She was a spinster on Little House.

LJ said...

yeah but, how many kids are going to be reading little house on the prairie in this day and age?

I vote for Eliza. I like Charlotte too but it would get shortened to Lottie or even Chattie here and I think that's awful. I like Sarah but prefer Sara. (I'm sure you needed that bit of "help").
Anything but plain Jane.

I love the name Jane. Lady Jane Grey, Jane Seymour, Jane Austen. I think it's a beautiful name.

Between the "Little House on the Prairie" thing, and the Vince Gill "Liza Jane" song, I just don't think I'd go with that one. I do like Charlotte, though, and I had a friend in school named that, and no one ever shortened it or tried to give her a nickname.

Angewl said...

I had come to say that was a character on Little House. The teacher and sister. lol

All are very pressty names.

Melanie, Bonnie, Careen, sueellen (or ellen), Lillian.... hmmm.. wonder where I am pulling these names from?
