I have no idea what this means.
Urine Culture
Organism 1 - Mixed gram positive and negative growth (this is highlighted. In black. Makes me a little concerned.)
Colony count: 50,000 colonies/ml.
Colonies of what? All I can picture is little green space aliens setting up their little green space homes in Olivia's urine. Obviously this is wrong (but I bet she could make money off it if it were true.)
I have a more detailed report that I can't make heads or tails of either. Both have been faxed over to the endo and now I'm sitting here, waiting. Why do they send me this shit on a Friday? I'm going to sit here and stew about this all weekend.
Anyone have any ideas? Anyone? Beuller? Beuller?

I think the terms "organisms" and "colonies" probably refer to bacteria... Maybe a bacterial infection of sorts?
Are you going to call the doctor? I don't think you should wait all weekend.... I would be on that phone harassing the staff. Well, not exactly harassing... Just being "assertive." Heavy on the "ass."
Nicole
Could she have a UTI or some kind of urinary tract issue?
I'm with Nicole: Call someone today. Shit, I'll call them if you want.
Oh, I'm going to call, I was just going to wait until after lunch, to make sure they got the fax at Joslin.
She doesn't have a UTI - no symptoms of it. I've had those before and as I recall, they're reallyreallyreally painful.
if she has no UTI, it could just be that the clean catch wasn't as clean as it could have been.
I've had UTI's and they're lousy.
I'll be checking in to see if you get any answers about these "colonies" setting up house in her peepee.
I hope Dr. Ricker delivers, per usual. I have complete faith in her.
Let us know what happens. I'll be rooting for you from here.
Julia, it does seem like they're measuring bacteria here... I can't believe that you were given this data first, without someone interpreting it for you.
Please let us know what you find out.
Also echoing the other commenters that it definitely sounds like a bacteria count.
Thinking of both of you and hoping this works out quickly.
And thank you for your comment on my blog.
Ok, Deb Holtorf just called me back (I'm finally starting to like her - it's only been five years). She said it's probably a combination of Olivia just finishing her period (did I tell you she started her period? Oy AND vey.) and not getting a clean catch. So, whew. They aren't concerned and are fine with waiting until her next endo appointment in February to do a repeat test.
Awesome news, Julia!
That's great news, Julia. I'm so glad to hear it.
shew..... what a relief!
I know you must feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of your shoulders!
whew! talk about s-t-r-e-s-s!
