Day 7

All the girls have my last name as their second middle name. This morning, O came to me and asked me if she could go to court and legally change her name from her father's last name to just mine. I told her I didn't know, but that I thought her father would have to sign off on that. I did tell her that when she was 18, she could change it herself, if she still wanted to.

She told TCBIM that he's been more of a father to her than her own dad.

I think he's driven the final nail in the coffin this time.

He still hasn't called her. It's now Day 7.

In MA, is there an age at which the judge will listen to O's wishes? I know some states there isn't, and in some its around 13.

Its so sad for the children, when they are more mature that the adults, but O sounds like she has an amazing head on her shoulders.

I'd be screaming to anyone that would listen about the room locking situation though. Abuse, plain and simple and she should NEVER have to be put in that situation again.

Thank goodness she sees TCBIM as a father figure. She needs that so badly. His heart must've melted when she said that.

I would Google MA law to see about changing her name.

I did. Her father would have to have a notarized statement saying that he ok'd it. That's about as likely as Bush having a strategy for Iraq. The other option is to have TCBIM adopt her, but again, her father would have to ok it.

That stinks.

Have you ever sat down and explained to your daughter how the aliens abducted you and inseminated you with the DNA of one of their own, whom they have been passing off as a human being all these years?

You could show her Buckaroo Banzai as corroboration.

That's horrendous. I'm so sorry, Julia. O is one incredible girl, though.

Smart girl, she is.

No question who she got that from.

Julia,
It is good that O see what an idiot her father is. My poor nieces went through the same thing with their mother. I won't get into it here but things really worked out for the best when she left them. They are turning out to be fantastic young ladies.

Thank God O got your brain cells in the DNA trade.

And it sounds like her sperm donor has lost some since his donation to voluntarily turn his back on such an obviously bright child.

Poor O. Sorry her father is being such a jerk. But family isn't about names, it's about love. And it definitely sounds like O has that.
