When you have no time, you do bullet lists

  • My mother is here. We haven't killed each other yet. This is progress.
  • The Bug is somewhat better, although she was up at 3 fucking 50 this morning. Ugh.
  • The public library here in town has kicked out The Boo's playgroup. I guess 6 toddlers are just more than they can handle. My eyes won't roll that far up into my head, I'm so fucking disgusted. Their excuse? We use up too many library resources. Mind you, we meet once a week, on Tuesdays, from 1 - 2 p.m. and we bring our own toys.
  • I have to write an article on the school shootings. I don't even know where to begin. It makes me ache just thinking about it. This one is going to be tough.
  • TCBIM is in Philladelphia. It sucks. I don't like sleeping by myself. I keep hearing things go bump in the night.
  • The Boo is on another nap strike. This also sucks.
  • I don't have time to write proper posts, so I'm reduced to doing these stupid bullet point things. I'm hoping regular service will resume shortly.

Hi!

In Europe, where I spent the first 39 years of my life, a library is a place for studying and reading, and the expected noise level is zero. Perhaps your library is of the same opinion? Or am I misunderstanding what a library does in the US?

Thanks,
Felix.

Here, it's a public facility, funded by the taxpayers of the town and can be used for meetings. Book groups meet in libraries. My mother attends several knitting groups at different libraries. At bigger libraries, they have movie nights and lecture series.

In the main part of the library, quiet is expected. The play group met in a room off of the children's section, with a closed door. The disturbance to the other patrons was minimal.

I can't believe you got kicked out of the library. Scratch that, I live in this state too. I totally believe it.

Would you like to borrow one of my dogs while your man is out of town? They're great to have around when things go bump in the night. ;)

What resources do you use? Sounds to me like it was just a meeting room.

Pets are good for bumps in the night but it sounds like you have enough breathing beings to take care of at the moment.

Resources being used? Hmmm... sounds like someone just didn't want 6 kids around playing. Do they realize that they just lost 12 patrons? Obviously they aren't worried about their patron count like I thought so many libraries across this nation are. That is what determines if they stay open... if the library is being used. Duh to them!

I think all of us with significant others have problems sleeping at night when they are away (unless they keep you up with snoring). Hopefully, he'll be back soon!

CAN they kick you out? Perhaps you could just have coincidental meetings there once a week...

I'm really irritated that you got kicked out. but, more than that, I feel scaredy for your lack of a sleep mate. I abhor sleeping by me lonesome, b/c I -- well, I'm kind of afraid of the dark.

there. I said it. *wipes brow*

p.s. may you continue to survive the mother presence. gah.
