So, Tell Me...

What are you reading right now?

Me?

The Help by Kathryn Stockett. It's fantastic.

Also, The Sins of the Wolf by Anne Perry because I love her mysteries.

I got a $100 gift card to Barnes & Noble from my son, so I have a stack to work thru, but I'm always up for hearing about what the rest of teh internets are reading.

I JUST finished Ruth Reichl's Tender at the bone - you'd really like it, I think, but I'm not sure you'd want to buy it. Good story, awesome recipes.Maybe haunt the library for it?

Next up: Leave me alone, I'm reading: finding and losing myself in books by Maureen Corrigan

Ooh! And the library called today - my copies of Apples to oysters: a food lover's tour of Canadian farms AND The 100 mile diet: a year of local eating are in!

The Sex Life of Food. I'm dissappointed that even food has a better sex life than I do! ACK!

An oldie but a goodie - The Water is Wide by Pat Conroy. Also loved The Lords of Discipline by him.

Listening to A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon - the last in the Outlander series - one of my favorites!

I just finished Poison Study and Magic Study, both by Maria V. Snyder. Next I'll start the final book of the trilogy: Fire Study.

Before that I was rereading Jacqueline Carey's novel Kushiel's Dart.

Well, you might be surprised. I have been focused of late on terrible autobiographies. Now, simultaneously, Chuck Barris and Geraldo (no last name needed). Both reprehensible.

I want to have a reading series with local actors reading excerpts - the unintentionally hilarious stuff - and I am doing research.

Oh, I love Anne Perry, too. Right now I'm reading, "What should I do with my life?" by Po Bronson. Next up? Duma Key - Stephen King.

Then I'm getting A Tree Grows in Brooklyn out again.

I just finished Kate Morton's "A House at Riverton"--it was fantastic; I think you'd like it! Her second book (not related), "The Forgotten Garden" is also quite wonderful.

I've read Maria Snyder's Poison/Magic/Fire Study trilogy, and they're very good! I'm currently reading Keri Arthur, the third book in her Riley Jensen series. Paranormal fiction is my latest obsession. Good thing there's so much of it! :)

Kindred. So far, so good. It was written in 1979. I found it at the library while just perusing to find a decent book to read. It's turned out to be very good.

Pope Joan and A Three Dog Life. The latter is a lovely memoir that is not a "dog book" at all. Worth the read.

I'm reading The Sweet In-Between by Sheri Reynolds. It's a good story, the characters are really well developed and the writing is excellent. I also like that it's not one that you have to keep up on - I put it down for like, two weeks, and picked it back up yesterday and felt like I hadn't missed a beat.

Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen was, hands down, the best damn book I read last year. In a few years, actually.

For some reason I can't seem to tear myself away from the $1300 repair bill I just got from having one of our cars in the shop. It's a real tear jerker. Bound to make the reader scream from sheer shock and horror!

Actually, I'm re-reading Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand...again, for the millionth time because it's right up there with my favs. I'm also debating diving into Nora Robert's vampire trilogy. But I dunno...have to think about that one for a while.
