The Things People Buy

The other day, at Big Box Store, I worked in the junior's department, folding and straightening clothes (because I don't do this enough at home. Oy.) and came across a couple of racks of clothing that very nearly made me scream in horror.

It was like a flashback to high school. Overdyed jeans (they don't have them on the website, but at the store, they had purple ones. Purple. Cast your mind back. Screaming yet?), ballet flats and a Michael Jackson jacket. Between that and the layered, shot-collar polo shirts I've seen lately, I think it's safe to say we have re-entered the 80s.

God help us all.

The 80s are not nearly as horrifying as reliving the 70s has been. Long live the 80s! I'm running out right now... or soon... or maybe never... to get me a pair of overdyed jeans.

I can't even fit my feet into those jeans.

Thank god on the west coast we tend to wear shorts and tshirts most of the time. Time to look for my OP shorts and Hang Ten tee's...

I'd better lay in provisions of hair gel if the 80s are coming back.

All I can say is - please no.

And this is coming from a child of the 80s :)

Damn. I finally got rid of my 80's hair a few years back.

I was wondering why I was growing my hair out and wanted hubby to give me a perm! (yes, the man will give me a perm. takes him forever to roll my hair, though. lol)

That jacket has got to go.
So do the jeans.

I'm not buying any of that shit! Don't worry. I thought the post would be about Hannah Montana clothes......We've been invaded by those too.

The 80's really sucked for me. Obviously, the people putting those clothes out there for people to buy, weren't alive to see how bad we all looked back then.....Maybe it was just me that looked bad.......I hope I didn't offend anyone. :)

Can you just refuse to sell them to people when they come to check out? Just save the people NOW....BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE......

Hugs!!

P.S. I hope zazzy doesn't hate me...

I've seen the magenta acidwash type jeans everywhere this year. The nightmares they bring back!

OMG I still have some of my clothes from the 80's.Two babies later and a big ass now they don't fit. Damb I could be in style for a change.

Permed hair, shoulder pads, parachute pants (my favorite pair was bright yellow). Turn the collar up on your jacket & get a supply of skinny ties and some funky hats.

I *miss* the 80's!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! WHY WHY WHY???

Yeah - I am SO not buying any of that crap. Refuse, forget it...thank goodness I saved my "thin" clothes because at least I'll have something to wear as I lose weight....because I am NOT wearing that! High waist jeans look bad on EVERYONE....

(in a quiet voice)

I like ballet flats. I was thrilled to see them back in style--can't stand wearing heels all the time and I'm tall enough that I don't 'need' heels. Or want them, most of the time.

Also, I like skinny jeans. I have skinny(ish) legs. I am on the active lookout for leggings.

REally.

The 80s revival does not disturb me nearly so much as the 70s revival did. I'll take skinny over bell-bottom any day--except skinny is still harder to find.
