I have a hard time sleeping at the best of times. It takes me forever to fall asleep and even with earplugs, little noises wake me up.
Tonight is not the best of times. I have a streaming head cold and I am sneezing like mad, so I decide to take a couple of Advil cold pills. And what to the fuckers do? Hop me up like a $5 meth whore looking for her next hit.
Goddammit.
I hope the beer I just finished is enough to knock me out a bit. It's 1 a.m. I will be woken by 5:30 by The Bug and that's if she doesn't wake up during the night.
I swear, I just want to go away for the weekend, get a motel room in NYC and sleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep.
Why NYC? Because city sounds put me out like a light.
I need to move.

My best friend in high school lived in a noisy downtown neighborhood, while I lived out in the 'burbs. On those occasions when we had sleepovers, she could never fall asleep because the quiet creeped her out.
I hope your small person let you get some sleep...
I need a fan on or something noisy to concentrate on besides my hubbys snoring. I'm hoping that you sleep like a warm, well fed baby wearing a dry diaper this weekend. Maybe you could throw a party and sleep through the noise. I've heard that warm milk helps...Beer tastes better! Good Luck!
I hate falling asleep to silence. I would much rather have the TV on, and I'm with you, city noises are great. I get to sleep quicker when there are revellers leaving clubs at 2am and taxis driving by constantly. Weird.
the forest is really nice and yes it can help you sleep well. this is better than living in urban places it's peaceful, here all you can hear are bird singing that makes you feel sleepy while in city sound pollution is everywhere, many kinds of hard sounds you will hear.
Ignore my timestamp.

Yes! Come visit me! :-D
My apartment complex has all kinds of weird noises... heat pipes clanking, vent going on and off, foot steps upstairs, television from another apartment. I started using a sound machine to drown out all the other noises and give me just one thing to kind of "focus" on, so-to-speak. I have it on the "rain" setting, because as an Oregonian, it's the only sound I can fall asleep to. It was kind of a necessity!
I grew up next to train tracks and can't sleep without big city noise unless absolutely zonked. Totally get it.
Wishing you slumber.
btw - cannot wipe image of a fellow blogger hopped up like a $5 meth whore looking for her next hit. Excellent description.
We have white noise machines in every bedroom! I'm a very light sleeper, too, and my favorite thing is sleeping in a hotel with earplugs in. But then I worry there will be a fire and I won't hear the alarm...
