Not ten minutes after I posted the last post, a woman contacted me, offering to send me test strips for O.
People amaze me. I generally don't like people en masse. I find them stressful to be around. But then some person, unknown to me until a few minutes ago, offers me an incredibly kind, helping hand and I am overwhelmed with gratitude.
She asked me not to use her name, but let me say right here, that if we ever get to meet, I shall buy her the dessert of her choice. The insulin's on me.

Julia--
I am pretty new to your site, I found it from Kerri's. I completely understand where you are coming from...I am a poor (Type I) college kid who has to pay for all my medical expenses. I only work part-time so everytime I have to buy supplies for my pump, etc., it's like a hit in the stomach (and the checkbook!). I know you do an amazing job with O, I can tell from reading your blog!
90% of humanity is a waste of flesh. It's that 10% that keeps me from demanding that Judgment Day arrive next Saturday.

Hurray for acts of kindness!!
People never cease to amaze me. Just when you think that all of humanity is useless someone does something incredibly kind for no reason.
Sorry to hear you're having a crappy time of late. What field are you looking in for a job?
I know that paycheck to paycheck feeling. We've lived it for far too long, put off having another baby because we can't afford the daycare, kicked around the idea of a second job on the weekends just to keep the worry at bay.
We do have credit cards. 4 fewer than we used to, but one of the two remaining has a huge balance. I tell you what, living like this has certainly tempered our impulsive spending style of a few years ago, which is why we're in the worry mode now.
I'm so glad some kind soul stepped up when you needed it. God bless that woman.
Generally I am not a big lover of people. Generally I would choose a dog over a person. Maybe I should have more faith in the human race. So happy for you!
That is awesome. I've experienced the unexpected kindness of others a few times myself. It makes life just that much brighter.
Random acts of kindness are what makes the world go round. This time it was your turn!
You might also call the maker of the test strips and explain your situation. Ask if there's any assistance available. I know lots of drug companies are offering help now.
And remember, this isn't forever, Julia; it's just a bump in the road. Okay, it's a boulder, but HEY! It's NOT forever!
Julia ... email asap ok? shoeboxofdreams@yahoo.com ... I can't find your email address so I can't email you. But I could easily give you test strips (like 200 one touches) ... just let me know where to send them :-D
I wish I could have been able to help you the way you have helped me in the past. I'm glad there are so many kind people out there.
hey, linked over from your comment on my place. people amaze me all the time. unfortunately, they rarely amaze me with their kindness. but this one, whom i've never met and almost certainly never will, has managed to amaze me with kindness. you're a strong one. :)
