Something to do on Labour Day.
One book that changed your life:
The Daughter Of Time by Josephine Tey. It got me started on a serious obsession with all things Tudor (I know it's about Richard III, the last Plantagenet). I know now more about Henry VIII than anyone outside of academia should know. And I love it.
2. One book that you've read more than once:
I've read a ton of books more than once. My favourite to read again and again is Little Women. I love Jo March.
3. One book you would want on a desert island:
How To Get Off A Desert Island by S.H.I. Precked.
4. One book that made you laugh:
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams. If you've only seen the movie (my apologies), go read the book. It's seriously funny shit.
5. One book that made you cry:
The Sparrow - Mary Doria Russell. Sobbed like a baby.
6. One book that you wish had been written:
How To Avoid Marrying The Guy Who's Just Like Your Dad
7. One book that you wish had never been written:
The fucking DaVinci Code. Jesus, I hated that book.
8. The book that you are currently reading:
I'm always reading more than one.
Shoulder The Sky - Anne Perry
The Most Of P.G. Wodehouse
9. One book that you have been meaning to read:
Just one?? Good grief.
An Instance Of The Fingerpost - Iain Pears. It's been on my shelf for years and I just can't get into it and it sits there, making me feel guilty.

Hi, Julia. I love Little Women, too. And, I just discovered a spin-off, so to speak, called *March* which is about Mr. March's experiences during the Civil War. It's a 2006 Pulitzer winner, so hopefully it will to Louisa May Alcott and (Jo!) justice.
I love the Hitchhikers guide and enjoy reading PG Wodehouse myself. But I have to say, I enjoyed reading (actually listened to it on tape) Da Vinci code.
Maybe my standards have fallen as I have no time left to actually read a book, I can only listen to them on the drives to and from work:-)
Jesus, I'm sure, is grateful you just told Him you hated that book.

I have a copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy but I haven't broken in to it yet. It's been sitting there, waiting for me, for at least six months now. Is it seriously that good?
Awesome that you're reading Wodehouse-- we're huge fans over here (and secretly, I'm in love with Jeeves).
Another laugh-out-loud book is Connie Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog-- it's a time-travel/Victorian/comedy.
One of my all-time favorite books-- the thing is flawless.
And on An Instance Of The Fingerpost-- a good friend recommended it years ago. Before I could start reading it, my husband gave it a go.
And HATED it.
If you ever decide to read it, I'd love to hear your take on the thing.
Kerri - yes, and you should read it forthwith. If it doesn't make you giggle, I'll eat my hat.
Sandra - I've added that book to my list and if I ever read Instance, I'll let you know. I've tried, several times, and each time it's just been sort of meh.
I bought the "Fingerpost" book a few years ago. It sat around for a year or so, then disappeared. I bought another copy, which has since sat around for another year. I WANT to read it. I INTEND to read it. I tried a chapter once but wasn't grabbed. But I'm not giving up yet... until I lose the book again.
